  4. More anti-arab propaganda, she's clearly lying.

  5. @Anonymous above:

Yeah, CLEARLY. All lies. In fact, she obviously sexually assaulted herself. So bad that she was hospitalized for 4 days. Cos we must be politically correct and never admit to them Egyptian men doing bad things. That would be just very wrong. It's way safer to say that the woman was lying.

    Just fuck off. Seriously.

  6. If I was one of the soldiers I would've opened fire.

  7. What I dont understand is why it took the solders 24 minutes to get to her or even for her crew to save her. It was like they all tried to save themselves. And for her to even go into a territory filled with men who are so angry and violent, I understand she's an reporter, but shes first and foremost a women, those men are like shown before savages, she shouldn't have gone. Thanks for posting this Criss.

  8. She is a very brave lady, but should have known better than to report among those savages, with their cultural inheritance.

  9. Lara Logan's testimony breaks my heart. What a horrible, disgusting species we are, more than capable of behaving like our baboon cousins. Incidents like these reveal that we really do need our herd thinned.

  10. this pisses me the hell off.. savages didn't even wait until the camera had died.. the light goes out and this is what happens..

  11. arab muslims are not human beings

  12. This is both sad and disgusting. I give her lots of credit for coming out. People forget that in theses parts of the world, when a woman is raped, she is blamed! Women have been stoned to death for causing men to lust after them and blame the rape totally on them! Don't be so quick to judge theses people though. It wasn't too long ago in the USA where the short shirt defense was considered reason to have sex with a woman, even when she screamed no. So honesty this is NOT just a problem in one part of the world, but all over!

  13. I can't do any comment justice so soon after viewing this piece. It's too much. Too close. But I'm glad you posted it. Thank you.

  14. The REAL face of Islam.

I would have shot every one of those savages.

  15. Why do people say the women that were assaulted were done so by "agents of the regime"-how do we know they were agents?

I'm sick of the middle east. It's the skidmark of the world.

  16. The entire middle east needs glassed. Egypt, Libya, Iraq, Iran, Israel...
Just... fuck, nuke the whole thing at once and be done with it already. I'm tired of watching it happen in slow motion. It's like not being able to put down a swarm of cancerous retarded puppies with mange and having to watch them suffer.

  17. That's kind of depressing. Thanks for sharing, though.

  18. I try to have faith in basic human decency but when I hear things like this, that is stretched to breaking point.

  19. How about a cheer for those bad-ass Egyptian women who closed ranks around her and started to put a stop to it? They come from a society that tells them that their will is irrelevant compared to that of a man. Yet they stood up and told the men that this was not going to continue. Not today. I ain't got nothing but love for ya', sisters.

  20. "Heaney said...arab muslims are not human beings
Heaney said...The REAL face of Islam."

You are generalizing an entire culture with bias, assumption, and illogicality. These were individuals, who just so happen to be members of a particular nation. Their actions are representative of those particular individuals who attacked her, not an entire nation or religious group.

Did you hear her? She said a group of Egyptian women helped and protected her. They risked attack from their own nation's members to help her. These women are a part of this culture, are they not?

These comments are eerily similar to Hitler's reasonings for persecuting the Jews. You cannot make assumptions about an entire region of the world. This entire region that you suggest to nuke is filled with kind, loving human beings! Where is your compassion for these good people?

There are good and evil people in every area of the world - including the United States of America.

  22. First you suggest you were ALMOST victim of a rape, and now you post this?

What are you trying to say, Criss?

    ReplyDelete
  23. "What are you trying to say, Criss?"

Maybe I'm trying to say that sexual assault be bad and suggest that people should stop doing it ?

  24. o god, I am crying with sadness but even more with rage. She is such a strong woman. thank you for sharing this.

  27. I admire her so much for speaking out about what happened to her. I am, however, throughly disgusted by the bigoted comments posted here. Mobs happen in ALL parts of this world. Sexual assault is not limited to one race or religion and to propose genocide as a response is simply ignorant. It is often dangerous in this country (US) to report on the homeless or the drug affected in our major cities. Women and Men who do are put in a position where they can come to harm sexually and otherwise. The brave ones talk about it and not just for ratings like was implied but because we all seem to live our life with blinders on and reporters live by the creed that we as the public have a right to know. We do have a right but I also say we have a duty to act upon this knowledge to increase awareness and seek justice for those we are able to prosecute. Thank You so much for posting this.

  31. Watching the video and reading some news articles and, at times, it does make me rage at the patriarchal cultural laws.

In Britain, we have a politician, Ken Clarke who seems to be dismissing rape as some sort of misdemeanor.

Two British volunteers to a charity, raped in St. Lucia.

It's bad enough in Western cultures, but looks to be even worse in more misogynistic countries, where the authorities are even more uncooperative.

  32. It makes me so angry when a woman like this is so brave and speaks up, people are calling her a liar. It is like you said Criss, what did she do then? assault herself so badly?

    ReplyDelete
  33. Apart from the fact that those men are disgusting pigs: Isn't it kind of stupid to walk into a crowd of horny happy men with your hair hanging loose, necklace and a bit of cleavage?

I've been to Egypt and I've seen a lot of women completely underestimate the dangers of the environment they're in. Like this one thinking that she could pull this of because of a revolution.

  34. I was moved to blog about the assault when it made the headlines too. My article focused on the potential liability that news organization may have as they send correspondents into dangerous locales.

By the way, great blog! There's lots of intriging thought here.

  35. I must say her story got me kinda hard, at least it would have if I weren't so drunk. :/ Anyway, silly bitch should have known that hanging around hornets' nests might get you stung. What did she expect? These people are misogynistic bronze age savages.

  36. I feel so much for her that she could make the decision to allow sexual abuse as long as she could get out of there alive. Unfortunately most people believe that if a women does not have any wounds or injuries than she wasn't "properly raped" or that they should fight to the death because even death is better than being raped. GOD she is so brave for enduring such a hellish experience and being able to sit bravely and talk about it.

BTW i am Muslim and i am so offended by the implication that she is lying to degrade Muslims and Arabs. Is your self delusion that bad that you believe even the most bullshit reason to convince yourself all is good in the middle east. Arab countries need to change now. I live in Australia and i would never go to n Arab country because stories like these and personal stories from my friends make me fear countries where i could be savagely raped with no protection and most likely punishment. I come from Somalia and i would most likely not go there either for the same reason. For all those hating on America and the west, at least your female family members could visit their countries and be protected by the law and have equal rights.

  37. It's sad that there are always cowards who respond to these stories by either blaming the woman or calling her a liar. It's so much easier to deny everything than to face the horrible truth.
